2008 – 2010 Metropolitan Film School, London

BA Video Production and Film Studies (2:1)


A practical intensive two-year degree programme with training from film professionals operating modern digital video equipment and software


· Courses in Fiction Film Directing, Documentary, Experimental Cinema, Screenwriting, Editing, Cinematography, Sound Boom Operation, Sound Editing and TV Studio Directing


· Engaged in various production roles including Director, Producer, 1st and 2nd Assistant Director, Director of Photography, Sound Boom Operator, Sound Mixer, VT Supervisor and Runner


· Extensive use of Final Cut Pro, and also familiar with other software including Color, Pro Tools and DVD Studio Pro


· Operated JVC HM700, Sony Z1, Panasonic DVX100 and Canon 550D camera, and also familiar with RED one and Arriflex SR3


· Awarded a Merit in the MetFilm School’s Professional Practice Certificate (PPC) for demonstrating discipline, communication and teamwork, management, planning and organizational skills, initiative and filmsense (www.metfilmschool.co.uk/ppc)

FILM EXPERIENCE


· Omar – Short Film. Shot on s16mm SR3 on a £3,500 budget. I wrote, directed and edited this film on Final Cut Pro. This film was my graduation piece for the MetFilm degree course. A religious father forbids his 15 year old son from playing guitar, which leads to family tension, until his mother makes a discovery about her husband.


· The Late Cat – Short Film. Shot on Sony Z1 on a £125 budget. I wrote, directed and edited this film on Final Cut Pro. This was the first short film I made at the MetFilm School. A story about a man who tries to come to terms with the odd behaviour of his best friend.


· Ward 3 – Feature Film. Shot on RED one. The film was part of a module for the MetFilm degree course. I was one of seven Directors of the film, and directed the opening and final scenes.


· My Dad in Alien Kulture – Short Documentary. Shot on JVC HM700. I wrote, directed and edited this film as part of the Documentary module of my degree course. The documentary explores my father’s involvement in Alien Kulture, the first Asian punk rock band in the UK.


· Who Is – Short Experimental Film. Shot on various digital cameras. I wrote, directed and edited this film as part of the Experimental module of my degree course. The film explores various ways in which people perceive a single person’s identity.


· A Sense of Failure – TV production of a magazine show as part of the TV Production module of my degree course. I wrote and produced a short monologue drama and an interview on the theme of boxing. I also directed an interview with BAFTA winning director Chris Bould. This module provided training in multi-camera TV studio directing on Stage 1 of Ealing Studios.


· One Way Street – I was the director of photography for a music video for the band, The Great Statesmen. The music video was shot on a JVC HM700.


· Origin Occupo – Music promotion video, which I shot on the Canon 550D and edited on Final Cut Pro in one day.


· Carnivals - Runner in a viral ad for Heineken and Heat magazine, produced by Bare Films, and shot on s16mm.


· Project Pink – Runner in a promotional video shot for and in Sky Studios.


· The Monkey’s Paw – Runner in a short NFTS graduation film, shot on 35mm.


· Blood Brothers – Runner in a short MetFilm graduation film, shot on RED one.


INTERESTS

· Jungian Psychology. I try to adopt a psychoanalytical approach to cinema and film art. I also have an active interest in Non-Dual philosophy and attend talks on the subject.


· I enjoy going to the theatre, and I go to the cinema at least once a week.


· My five favorite films are:
